“God told me clear as a bell one day. I didn’t make you to sell out arenas. I made you to change hearts!” – GK
Gary grew up as the youngest of 6 kids in a super athletic and musical atmosphere in the Houston area. So it should be no surprise to find out that he and his wife have 7 KIDS! That’s right…7. They have four girls and 3 boys.
Gary’s first full length album is titled “LIVIN”. He experienced incredible success right out of the gates with his first single Lone Star Tears, that reached top 30 on the Texas charts. Beer Goggle Blues is still a fan favorite years later from that record.
His second full length album was titled “Turn This life Around”, and this is where Gary saw the ugly side of the music business. After signing a record deal he had not only record sale profits, show revenue, and merchandise money stolen, he had musical and intellectual rights stolen as well. After a few years battling he got back on the horse.
His third project, “Texas Strong”, came out swinging. The video for Texas Strong had 100,000 views in the first 3 days and has been viewed and streamed over a million times. He and his wife started his not for profit organization TEXAS STRONG shortly after the success of the song, and is going strong today.
In September of 2017 Gary released the first edition of his double record “Rewind (White),” a 6-song EP that projects the spirit of his big Texas soul. It is a trip down the familiar roads where Gary grew up in Southeast Texas.
The sequel, “Rewind (Blue),” was released in May 2018 and is the more polished side of Gary’s writing edge. Stepping away from his more dynamic balladeering, Gary embraces the more rock ‘n’ roll side of his personality on this release.
Combined, both releases take us through the journey of Gary’s intimate life as he grows from a vainglorious adolescent to a well cultivated man. He had 1 top 30 and 2 top 20 singles on the Rewind project. Turns out that the biggest mistakes in life make the very best songs.
2023 is bringing some new songs, and possibly a new album. Be on the lookout for there is so much yet to come…
